What Actually Matters
Avoid public holiday weekends. Prices at every destination on this list spike 30 to 50 percent over Easter, Christmas, and long weekends, and the roads double in travel time. A regular Saturday morning departure beats a Friday evening holiday exodus in every measurable way.
Travel with at least one other person. Fuel and accommodation split in half. Travel with four and a KES 20,000 weekend becomes a KES 10,000 weekend.
Book directly. Most of these properties have WhatsApp numbers and respond faster than their websites suggest. Call ahead to confirm rates, availability, and whether the road to the property is passable in wet season.
